Education Alliance hits CHED; calls for junking of school fees

Tuition and miscellaneous school fee hikes are implemented despite the Rise for Education alliance’s complaints and campaigns opposing school fee increases. The Rise for Education alliance has recorded and filed complaints against schools for bogus consultations and doubtful reasons for increases. “We have dutifully complied with all the necessary reports to assert to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) that there are, indeed, questionable and wrong processes being used to railroad school fee increases,” says Sarah Elago, Convenor, Rise for Education Alliance. The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) condemns the continuing culture of hazing and other forms of violence inflicted upon students and youth. NUSP seeks justice for the death of alleged hazing victim Ariel Enopre, who succumed to death two weeks after the October 19 hazing incident. According to reports, Enopre died due to kidney failure.
