Tuition is high even in SUCs; Students enraged over Malacanang’s apathy –NUSP

It would be too much to ask from the students and citizens to forgive Malacanang, for Malacanang doesn’t know what it is saying and what it is doing. Malacanang, through Presidential Communication Operation Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio ‘Sonny’ Coloma Jr., is undeniably illogical in reasoning. The students are calling for a tuition moratorium but Malacanang provides us an insensitive response: if students and parents cannot afford to pay high tuition, then they can simply transfer to state universities and colleges (SUCs). It is symptomatic of a government that does not know the real conditions of Philippine education. Malacanang is actually…

Students remain vigilant in calling for a tuition moratorium; Aquino and CHED, no different from profiteering school owners

“Why do students remain vigilant in the call for a tuition moratorium?” The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) and its member councils and students continue with intensified spirits the fight against the unabated and inhumane tuition and school fees increases and impositions in the country. Every year, students from both State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) have suffered from the series of tuition hikes. Every year, unjustified exorbitant, redundant and excessive fees are imposed upon the students through bogus consultations. This leaves no room for students and youth to pursue their education…

NUSP: Aquino-Obama’s EDCA Reinforces Mercenary Tradition of Neocolonial Rule

The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) condemns in the strongest sense possible the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) of the Obama-led imperialist United States of America regime and the anarchistic and anti-people Noynoy Aquino regime. The agreement, though posing to be constitutional, pro-people, mutual and humanitarian, does not only make a mockery of the Philippines’ sovereignty but also reinforces the mercenary tradition of neocolonial rule in the country. “EDCA is indeed an enhancement, but not of the protection and care of our nation and our people, but of the mercenary US military dominance in the country and…
