UPLB

The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP), together with other organizations and student councils of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) , condemn the state fascism of the Aquino regime for the arrest of 13 activists, including three UPLB students, namely, Carlo Alberto, Romina Marcaida, and Chachi Cañeso, during the Independence Day protest in Kawit City, Cavite.  Wrongly accused of illegal assembly, the students and activists have been unduly prevented by the government from practicing their constitutional right to organize and assembly. First Day Fight! youth and students, unite against commercialization of education!

NUSP Bicol 1

The education crisis intensifies under the Aquino administration. As students continue to fall victim to repressive anti-student policies, the Filipino youth is further alienated from their inherent right to education. For one, tuition deregulation breeds the commercialized nature of education, where continuous, annual and exorbitant tuition and other school fees become a perennial woe to the toiling Filipino masses. At present, there are 313 higher education institutions (HEIs) approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) to increase tuition and other school fees for the incoming academic year. In Bicol region alone, out of the 23 HEIs who signified intent…

Manifesto of Unity Against Tuition and Other School Fees Increase!

manifesto

We, students, youth leaders, and campus journalists from public and private schools all over the country, who believe that we must continuously assert for our right to quality and accessible education stand strong against the commercialization of education. The prevalence of tuition and other school fees, together with their exorbitant yet unnecessary increase regularly, further ignites our unity.
