Students denounced Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) President Emmanuel De Guzman’s denial of a 1,600% tuition and other fees hikes in PUP as “lying between his teeth.” The students also reiterated their opposition to the K to 12 Program as it is the main reason, apart from the low budgetary allocation by the government, for the tuition and other school fees increases in PUP’s senior high school (SHS) program. As we celebrate the international labors day, we do not simply commemorate the historical victories of the workers in the struggle for humane labor practice and living wages, but continuously vigilant in upholding the collective demands of our workers and other sectors to attain further victories.
