Student union reiterates opposition to mandatory ROTC during House meeting

The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) reiterated its opposition to the proposed restoration of mandatory military training or Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) during a meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Culture on August 14, Monday. “We oppose the implementation of mandatory military training for Grades 11 and 12 students and pushes for the abolition of the ROTC. The National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP), together with students of various universities and colleges, trooped the Commission on Higher Education Friday, August 12, 2016 to oppose the administration’s plan of reviving the mandatory Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in every higher educational institution in the country.
